Self-development and achievement

Throughout this semester, I have developed myself in enhancing reading, drafting, revising, and editing strategies on all of my assignments for this class, and this was through the feedback that the professor provides me on each assignment I complete.  I was able to learn from my mistakes and modify them for the better.  Every time I revised the assignments, I drafted and edited them, and thus I could notice the difference in developing this skill that I learned in this class.  This was one of the most important skills I learned in this class throughout this semester.

Furthermore, we had a class with Professor Corinne Shearer in the library. Where we learned how to find resources and how to use library resources, online databases, and the Internet to identify appropriate resources for the writing assignments I completed during the semester.  These skills helped me find reliable sources for my class assignment, which were Technical description resources. The technical description was a description of a specific thing that you chose and included a large amount of detailed information about what was going to be described, in addition to defining and detailing all the important words in the technical description.  For my technical description, I chose the car’s engine and how it works.  I had to explain how each function in the engine works along with its definition.  Then I added the rest of the car parts and explained the function of each part in the car, along with the definition for all the words.  I made sure to explain everything in order, in an organized and understandable manner, so that the reader is fully aware of how to operate the car and how it moves, in addition to the safety tools in the car.

  Later in the semester when I was in a group and we were working on a literature review, each group member had to find two resources for the presentation that we were working on as a team.  I learned how to find sources, verify them, and then summarize the details in my own words so that the reader can understand the source information. Furthermore,  I have learned how to cite my two sources for the literature review evidence in APA citation . Furthermore, we had an APA citation quiz in class that includes in-text citations and references. One example in the APA citation, Botto, S. V. and Rochat, P. (2018). Sensitivity To the evaluation of others emerges by 24 months. As you can notice, I started with the author name, date, then the title. It was one of the most important things that I have learned in this class because I only knew how to cite in the MLA style. Knowing how to cite in the GPA style helped me not only in this class, but also in my other class for this semester Music and History.

In addition to the things that I benefited from during this course throughout this semester, were the discussions and feedback that I had with my classmates. It helped me learn to think in another, more creative way, so that I can think, analyze, and criticize in a variety of more informative and useful ways. I always have to think outside the box so that I can be more creative. It gave me the opportunity to find out what my colleagues were thinking as well, so it was a kind of experience to gain experience in thinking in another way and also sharing our ideas. It was important to know the opinions of others in order to find my mistakes and improve them for the better. Moreover, one of the activities that was most useful to me was the writing activity that we always do for five to ten minutes at the beginning of each class. This writing activity was a way to demonstrate how to present my ideas in my own way. Which helped me analyze sources and write ideas in a creative way while doing assignments. It was also a useful way to strengthen my English writing, and considering that I am an immigrant, it was the most effective and positive activity for me. It was a bit of a challenge to try to summarize and edit articles and texts, as well as to identify reliable sources while citing them as a reference, but through the effort I made in all my time during this semester, this enabled me to be able to complete the assignments somewhat more optimally. The best example of this is the artistic description. I reformulated it and then edited it, through the skills I gained in discussions, exchanging opinions, and artistic criticism with my colleagues, and also the professor’s feedback. I noticed the development in the way I wrote, and it also helps to clarify the idea. And rewrite it in the most simple and clear way.
